Discovering the Other New York

Long Beach is City situated in Nassau County, LI, NY, and is a barrier island shared with Atlantic Beach, Lido Beach and Point Lookout. Long Beach is, without a doubt, my favorite short destination 6 miles from my home.

Long Beach has two and a half miles of boardwalk cycling and is accessible to the Atlantic Beach Bridge for a connection to the Rockaways in Queens, NYC.

Long Beach has many events in the summer. One of my joys is photographing surfing from the boardwalk. The Long Beach Boardwalk was destroyed during Hurricane Sandy. The City dismantled the old boardwalk and built a new one within a years time. Please see "related links" at the bottom of this page.
Adjacent to Long Beach is Lido Beach to the East, a surfers paradise and Atlantic Beach to the West known for it's Beach Clubs. Just beyond Atlantic Beach is the Atlantic Beach Bridge. One can cycle across the bridge from Long Island to the Rockaways in New York City
