Hempstead Lake, Bethpage and Massapequa Parks
Starting in Bethpage the run to the end of the Massapequa Preserve is 11 miles (22 round). The Massapequa Preserve has three sections: southern (Merrick Road to the Sunrise Highway), central (to Clark Boulevard), and northern (to Linden Street). Massapequa Preserve is 423 undeveloped acres of woodlands, ponds, lakes, and freshwater wetlands that border Massapequa Creek. One of the nicest bike paths runs down the heart of the preserve.
Hempstead Lake in Rockville Centre is the largest lake in Nassau County. A bike path circumvents the park with opportunities to dismount with a short walk to the lake or watch a softball or soccer game on one of it's many fields.
